So. What is our theory?
We strive to shape a foundation that lasts a lifetime. Our outlook is that birds are incredibly intelligent animals and must be treated with the respect they deserve, which includes a healthy diet, positive reinforcement, hands-on attention, plenty of toys, and both mental and physical challenges. I've always been fascinated by the capacity of the avian mind, how they think, what they feel. It speaks wonders to me that a creature the size of my foot can communicate an entire sentence just by the look in its eye, the fluff of a feather. It is both humbling and inspiring to be graced by their presence, a gift I wish to give unto others to enrich the lives of both human and bird alike. What I've found is that they are more like us than we realize... Which is why we should treat them as companions and not decorations.
We accommodate the species because they are the ones having to do the adapting. We keep our breeder pairs free flighted and allow them out of cage access daily to fly. With our personal companions and all babies, we emphasize trick training and foraging challenges, complemented with numerous toys, harness training, and chewable branches. We raise our birds to be independent and self-sustaining, but to also enjoy a human companionship. They are raised with love and genuine compassion, leaving us hoping that the quality of the birds reflect our practices. We offer training techniques, advice, diet ideas, and quality photography at your request so that it may best enrich your experience. And, of course, the bird's.

The way I figure it, a good breeder needs to be available. A good breeder needs to be open to any and all questions, suggestions, and reasonable requests. We do our best to provide pleasant and encouraging service to our buyers, and truly care to whom the babies are sold. If questions arise after purchase, we are always open for a good email or phone call to help.
We can't all go into bird keeping knowing the entire Encyclopedia, which is why we completely understand if you have questions. If this is your first bird, or your first Green Cheek, there is loads of information with which I would be happy to provide you.
Why Green Cheek Conures?
My ultimate goal is to someday have a pair of every kind of Pyrrhura. Green Cheeks are my favorite simply because of what they are. Adorable, enormous personalities packed into a fun-size multicolored body and bursting with smarts.
While I would happily "ooh" and "aah" about my beloved Pyrrhuras for a lifetime, I cannot be an honest source without admitting that green cheeks do have their drawbacks. But it is the perspective that matters most. There are two additives that complete the conure spectrum: sugar and spice. These two ingredients complete both sides of the Green Cheek. One side is an all-embodied example of sugar at its finest- sweet, loving, easy-going, and friendly. On the other hand, there is another side, which encompasses everything you would find at a fireworks stand- spice and gun powder, beauty and zest.
Which leads me to my original point: while that peppery kick green cheeks possess is what can cause a person to fall in love, it is also one of the leading causes of their frequent rehoming. With the spice comes a sweep of attitude, some individuals containing more than others, but always there in the right moments. It seems that, when having to choose between a sun conure and a green cheek, one can trade the ear-piercing scream of the sun for the steady sass of the latter. Again, one's perspective is what counts at this point. Young babies reared in the right environment (AKA, my place) will happily step up for anybody upon request and will embrace new situations with bravery. They will harass their toys and play wrestle with your hand, even if they do pinch on accident because they are so excited. But then that six month mark comes around, and the cute little baby decides to test his or her boundaries- this is when the real work begins, which is why I am always open to communcation and assistance. Expect to be bitten, expect to witness your lines crossed, and everyday traditions to be altered. But remember that it is simply a rite of passage into the adult world of green cheek and mature owner.
Although I love Green Cheeks and their default settings, it's the variation that most intrigues me. Throughout the time I have shared with various individuals, I have found each one so different from the last that there is no doubt they are as unique as we are. Some babies have been shy from day one- others have been more outgoing, some gentler, some feisty. Most, however, love cuddle time, trick training, and playing with their human and other green cheeks as a favorite past time.
My final point: Green cheeks don't sit back and let the world hit them in the face. They tend to chase it down and tackle it themselves. I say this with a smile, though, because I find it admirable. It's not always easy to take on challenges that are ten times your size and grab them by the horns. They fight for their opinion to be heard, to prove themselves to whomever is watching. And then at the end of the day, after playing hard and just living the best way they know how, they curl up under your chin and, in a croaky frog-like voice, murmur their appreciation to you. "Thanks for understanding."
